Bio
Kerry Clawson has been a professional journalist with the Akron Beacon Journal in Ohio for 17 years, most recently serving as the newspaper’s theater and dance critic. Over the years, her insightful, thought-provoking critiques of live theater have drawn both the appreciation and the ire of theater enthusiasts as well as those who practice the craft.
Although theater remains Kerry’s first love, she also blogs from time to time about local dance and orchestral productions. She writes about both of these art forms for the Beacon Journal.
Through this blog, originally designed to chronicle Northeast Ohio theater, she continues the highly rewarding dialogue her newpaper reviews started with the local theatrical community. Everywhere this journalist goes, people are talking about live theater. Kerry’s goal is to keep that buzz going, and, as a result, continue to help local audiences develop a deeper appreciation for this art form as well as others.

Kerry,
Great to see that you are writing reviews again! I’m enjoying checking your blog for updates. If you’d ever like to check out anything at CPT, let me know! We’d love to have you!

Hello Ms. Clawson. Saw the production of Bee-
hive tonight at the Carousel Dinner Theater. My
entire group absolutely loved it! Glad to see you
liked most of the show. We were incredibly dis-
sappointed that you did not particularly care for
Ms. Val Moranto. Our entire group loved everyone
but Ms. Moranto especially. And especially in the
two numbers you singled out to dislike. Janis Joplin
was particularly moving. And Will You Still Love
Me Tomorrow made us giggle. We thought it was
a lot of fun! We are writing letters to the editor regarding
your weak review about the one actress. We feel
like there was not one weak link in the cast. And
to single out Ms. Moranto like that is embarrassing
and hitting below the belt. We had previously come
to the show a couple of weeks ago with friends and
decided to bring our group back tonight. We will
continue to frequent the Carousel Dinner Theater.
Thank you for time and consideration in this matter.
Sincerely, Frank & Jennifer Martin
